How this estimate works
The calculator uses a benchmark-style parametric model for standard rigid FR-4 fabrication. The reference case is a simple 100 × 100 mm, 2-layer, 10-piece PCB with 1 oz copper, 1.6 mm thickness and HASL finish. Board area and quantity are scaled non-linearly to reflect setup cost and volume efficiency, then adjusted for layers, copper weight, thickness, surface finish and selected special processes.
Important: The result is intentionally shown as a range. Actual supplier pricing can differ because of panel utilization, drill count, routing, trace/space limits, stack-up, yield, production loading, region, promotions and manufacturer-specific rules.

Is the PCB Cost Calculator connected to JLCPCB, PCBWay, or another manufacturer?
No. The Devoforge PCB Cost Calculator is an independent general estimation tool and does not use live pricing APIs from individual PCB manufacturers. Actual quotations may therefore differ from the estimate shown by the calculator.
Does the calculator include PCB assembly?
No. The calculator estimates bare PCB fabrication only. Components, SMT assembly, through-hole assembly, programming, testing, stencils, and other production costs are not included.
Does PCB size affect manufacturing cost?
Yes. A larger PCB consumes more panel area and material and will generally cost more to manufacture. However, PCB pricing is not based on board area alone. Quantity, layer count, materials, fabrication processes, and panel utilization can also significantly affect price.
Why do 4-layer PCBs cost more than 2-layer PCBs?
A 4-layer PCB requires additional copper layers, dielectric materials, lamination, imaging, registration, inspection, and other manufacturing processes. As the layer count increases, fabrication complexity normally increases as well.
Is ENIG more expensive than HASL?
In most standard PCB fabrication situations, ENIG is more expensive than HASL because it requires additional nickel and gold processing. The appropriate finish should be selected according to the technical requirements of the design.
Does ordering more PCBs reduce the cost per board?
Generally, yes. PCB fabrication includes fixed setup and processing costs. When those costs are spread across a larger production quantity, the average cost per PCB often decreases. The exact quantity-price relationship varies between manufacturers.
Can I use this estimate for a production purchase order?
The calculator is intended for budgeting and design evaluation. Before releasing a purchase order, always obtain an official quotation from the PCB manufacturer that will produce the boards.
Can the calculator estimate rigid-flex or HDI PCBs?
No. The current calculator is intended primarily for standard rigid FR-4 PCBs. Rigid-flex, HDI, blind/buried-via designs, metal-core PCBs, high-frequency laminates, unusual stack-ups, and other specialist technologies should be quoted directly by a capable PCB manufacturer.
